The tapestry "A Mon Seul Désir" represents the last piece of the six hangings of the Lady of the Unicorn, five of which represent the five senses.
"A mon seul désir" represents the refusal of the jewels, which testifies to the moral strength of the Lady, able to master the power of her senses.
Other symbols evoking the five senses are represented: the lion and the unicorn holding the coat of arms are the emblem of strength and purity. They also represent the union of the fiancé and fiancée. Hearing is represented by the organ.
This scene is linked to the "Thousand Flowers" group by its background of flowers known as "Bord de Loire". At the time, the upholsterers were attracted by the orders of the French Court which was settled in the Loire Valley.

Faithful reproductions of a 15th century tapestry
As leaders in the tapestry market, thanks in particular to our wide choice of French tapestries, we work with various workshops that produce reproductions of the various hangings of The Lady and the Unicorn in the Jacquard tradition.
Discover, among others, "À mon seul désir" in tapestry in Point de Flandres in cotton and wool made by the Art de Lys weavers; or in Point d'Halluin in cotton, wool, viscose and polyester with or without border and created by the Jules Pansu factory.
You will also find here cushions made in Jacquard stitch tapestry with an 80% cotton weave and faithfully reproducing the most famous piece of this Renaissance work, or a table runner, also in Jacquard stitch, lined with an unbleached cotton fabric and equipped with two pompoms.
