Interpretation of the tapestry "Une descente de tournoi à la fin du XVe siècle" (A tournament descent at the end of the 15th century) created by Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921) and intended to decorate the Salle des gardes at the Archives Nationales. The original hanging was woven at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins from 1895 to 1899.
This highly stylised epic composition compares favourably with the sumptuous medieval frescoes.
