halluin stitch tapestry

The “A Mon Seul Désir” tapestry is the last of the six hangings of the Lady of the Unicorn, five of which represent the five senses.
“A mon seul désir” represents the refusal of jewels, which testifies to the Lady’s moral strength, capable of mastering the power of her senses.
Other symbols evoking the five senses are represented: the lion and unicorn holding the coat of arms are the emblem of strength and purity. They also represent the union of bride and groom. Hearing is represented by the organ.
This scene is linked to the “Mille fleurs” group by its “Bord de Loire” background. At the time, upholsterers were attracted by orders from the French Court, which was based in the Loire Valley.
Composition: 62% wool, 21% cotton, 11% viscose , 6% polyester for the 95x115cm tapestry.
68% wool, 21% cotton, 8% viscose , 3% polyester for other tapestries
