Versailles tapestry

This hanging is a reproduction of the famous suite of twelve tapestries entitled “Les Maisons royales” designed by Charles Le Brun from 1619 to 1690, they were created for the glory of King Louis XIV. The tapestries were produced over several years, up to the early 18th century. at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins.
They feature the sovereign, his residences and entertainments and, more generally, the splendor of of his court. Here, the tapestry depicts Louis XIV hunting in the grounds of the Château de Versailles.
This tapestry is woven in Loiselles cotton on jacquard looms in a factory in northern France. A certificate of authenticity is affixed to the back of the tapestry.
