Bayeux tapestry, Pansu weaving

This tapestry represents part of the Bayeux tapestry, that of the embarkation of William the Conqueror’s fleet. The story of this tapestry is as follows: “In September 1066 at Dives-sur-mer, William the Conqueror’s fleet is ready to leave, but the weather and winds decide otherwise… Was this a bad omen, as many thought at the time? William the Conqueror didn’t think so! He embarked his army on the night of September 26-27. No fewer than 750 ships left Normandy to attack the Saxon troops.” This hanging is a faithful reproduction of the original Bayeux tapestry. The tapestry is woven in a factory in northern France, on a Jacquard loom. Like all tapestries on this site, a certificate of authenticity is glued to the back of the tapestry. A hanging system is also provided.
