Pablo Picasso Tête de Femme, 1962, is a superb portrait of Jacqueline Roque captured in cubist style. Jacqueline Roque was Picasso’s second wife and his most prolific muse. Identified by her long black hair and piercing eyes, Picasso depicts his subject from multiple perspectives.
In the close-up, Picasso frames the image so that we see only his head and neck. At first glance, a frontal portrait looks directly at you. However, on closer inspection, the extreme side profiles of two women looking at each other, nose to nose, emerge.
This cover is woven on a jacquard loom in a workshop in northern France. It is part of a unique collection of cushions based on a selection of Picasso paintings. In agreement with the Succession Picasso, we had to choose motifs that could be transposed from canvas to weave, while preserving the strength of the colors and the purity of the lines.
