Originally destined for the Château de Rambouillet, this tapestry was originally part of a famous series by the Manufacture de Beauvais, “L’histoire de l’Empereur de Chine”. It was inspired by the accounts of Jesuit missionaries returning from their oriental journeys, laden with tales and knowledge that astonished the whole of Europe at the time.
