Jean de France, Duke of Berry, is famous for having bequeathed to posterity magnificent illuminated manuscripts illustrated by the artists of the time. These prayer books changed with the seasons, using different themes, entertainments or works featuring the Duke himself. It is in this spirit that this tapestry was created, illustrating the month of May, traditionally the month of love.
This tapestry is a used tapestry. It is in very good condition. Only the lining (back of the tapestry) has some moisture stains.
