tapestry summer of the apocalypse

This tapestry is a reproduction of part of theAngers Apocalypse hanging. This one is on display at the Château d’Angers. It was woven during the Hundred Years’ War and was commissioned by Louis Ier d’Anjou. It is the largest collection of medieval tapestries in the world!
This tapestry composition exists in six pieces. They wereexecuted from cartoons by Hennequin de Bruges.
Here, “l’été” is a faithful representation of the original tapestry, with its vivid colors. It accompanies, among others, the tapestry “Fire”, another extract from the Apocalypse tapestry.
Tapestry woven in northern France on Jacquard loom, lined, with certificate of authenticity on back.
